While standard ball valves simply block airflow, they often leave dangerous residual pressure trapped in the machine. The L-O-X (Lock-Out-Exhaust) valve is designed to fundamentally solve this by isolating the air supply and automatically exhausting downstream pressure to the atmosphere.

Based on the industry-standard design (similar to Ross Controls), this valve is the critical component for achieving a Zero Energy State. It allows maintenance crews to shut off the air, verify zero pressure, and physically padlock the valve in the “OFF” position, preventing accidental re-energization while they work.

• Shut-Off & Exhaust (2-in-1 Action):

Unlike a standard valve, the L-O-X valve performs two functions with one motion. When you push the handle to the “Closed” position, it blocks the incoming main supply and simultaneously opens an exhaust port to vent all downstream air. This eliminates the risk of pneumatic actuators firing unexpectedly due to trapped air.

• OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 Compliance: Designed specifically for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. The unique handle design includes large loops that accept a safety padlock (or a hasp for multiple locks). The valve cannot be opened until the padlock is removed, ensuring the technician is safe.
• High-Visibility Status: The valve design (often bright yellow with a red handle) provides immediate visual confirmation of the system’s state. It is easy to see from a distance whether a machine is “Live” or “Locked Out.”
• Sensing Port: Includes a threaded sensing port that allows you to install a pressure indicator or pressure switch. This provides visual verification to the operator that the downstream air has indeed been fully exhausted.

How It Works

1. Run Mode: Handle is pulled out. Air flows freely from inlet to outlet.

3. Secure: Insert a padlock through the handle loop. The system is now mechanically secured and safe for service.
